Turned Out - Spruce Tip Ale
Conditioned on hand-foraged spruce tips from the West Coast of Vancouver Island (spruce tips are the new spring growth of the tree and are sustainably harvested). The young spruce buds give this beer a surprising strawberry/melon character with a hint of piney resin. This was accentuated by the use of Huell Melon and Mosaic hops.
The malt base uses Pilsner and Vienna malt along with some wheat and oats for complexity and mouthfeel. Fermented with Sacch Trois, a wild yeast to accentuate the fun, fruity and tropical characteristics and to play with the spruce qualities. Equally at home on at a backyard patio or a four course meal, it has a wonderful balance for any occasion.
